An emaciated male pony named Bambi was found abandoned and severely neglected on a road in Hook, Hampshire. Rescued by the charity Saving Abandoned Fly Grazing Equines (SAFE), Bambi weighed only 35kg, had overgrown feet and teeth, lice infestation, and was suffering from chronic anaemia and extreme exhaustion. After initial care, he was hospitalized at Donnington Grove Equine Veterinary Hospital, where he was diagnosed with impaction colic, pneumonia, and a severe worm infestation, requiring intensive treatment including antibiotics, worming medication, and IV nutritional support.
SAFE believes Bambi is less than three months old and is now supplementing his diet with milk formula alongside forage. The charity is seeking donations via a GiveWheel fundraising page to cover his ongoing veterinary care and needs. Supporters can follow Bambi’s recovery and SAFE’s work on their Facebook page.
