At the Otoe County 4-H Horse Show, Elsie England earned the top purple ribbon in the horse costume contest with her unique and creative outfit featuring road barricades, flashers, and road signs. Judge Corrane Moss praised the costume as amazing and noted it was the first construction-themed horse costume she had ever seen, highlighting the horse Blaze’s impressive tolerance for the elaborate decorations, including a hard hat and a sign saying “hold your horses.”
England explained that while the idea was inspired by something they saw, she expanded on it by adding more elements to the costume. She also mentioned that Blaze was quite tolerant of the costume, making the presentation successful. When asked humorously if she would be ready to join road construction crews, England’s response reflected the fun and lighthearted spirit of the contest.
