Eighth-grader Kamryn Everett from Salida Middle School is showcasing her colorful, abstract paintings at the Salida Regional Library throughout February. Having started drawing six years ago through 4-H, encouraged by her cousin and mentor Adrianna Weber, Everett shifted her focus to painting and recently began displaying her work publicly. Her creative process involves using Pinterest reference images and adding her own unique touches, with a particular fondness for painting animals—especially exotic ones like sloths and elephants, as well as horses and cows from her ranch life.
Everett enjoys the challenge of working through struggles in her art and values variety, as seen in her favorite painting of a starry night with sunflowers. While she plans to keep art in her future, her primary passion lies with animals. Her paintings on display at the library are available for purchase at affordable prices, offering the community a chance to support this young local talent.
