Edwin “Ed” Arnold Linger, 86, Beloved Farmer and Community Leader, Passes Away

Edwin “Ed” Arnold Linger, 86, of Morgantown, passed away on June 18, 2025. Born in Weston in 1938, Ed was a devoted husband to Deigratia “Ann” Kitzmiller for nearly 60 years and a beloved father, brother, and uncle. He graduated from Weston High School and earned a BS in Animal Husbandry from West Virginia University. Ed served in the Army Reserves and built a lifelong career in agriculture, managing WVU Livestock Farm, instructing in Horse Sciences, and owning Linger Stables. He was deeply involved in the 4-H community and the Quarter Horse Association, earning multiple awards for his dedication to farming and youth programs.

Ed was known for his signature cowboy hat and boots, symbolizing his passion for farming and horses. His legacy includes significant contributions to West Virginia agriculture and youth development. A graveside service will be held on June 27 at Weston Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Monongalia 4-H Leaders Association, honoring Ed’s lifelong commitment to the community.
