Trainer Ed Walker plans to expand his Frenchman’s View training yard in Upper Lambourn from 14 to 59 boxes, adding new facilities such as two American barns, a horse walker, water treadmill barn, and staff accommodation. This satellite yard supports his main base at Kingsdown Stables and follows a successful 2024 season with 74 winners and over £1.3 million in prize money. The expansion aims to modernize stabling and increase capacity, contributing to the local horseracing industry and economy.
The planning application has been called in for review by West Berkshire Council due to concerns about drainage and noise. However, Jockey Club Estates supports the development, highlighting local policies favoring equestrian facility growth to strengthen the rural economy. They emphasize that the expansion will help retain a leading trainer in the village, boost employment, and enhance economic activity in Lambourn, a key hub for flat and National Hunt racing.
