East Texas Firefighters Aid Flood Rescue Efforts in Hill Country

Eight firefighters from East Texas are actively involved in search and rescue operations in the Hill Country following deadly flooding that has claimed over 100 lives. They have been rescuing people trapped in trees, vehicles, and debris, working alongside numerous agencies statewide and nationwide.

Longview Fire Marshal Kevin May emphasized the demanding nature of their work, with crews laboring 18 to 20 hours daily to bring closure to affected families and potentially find survivors. The firefighters’ physical and mental well-being is being closely monitored, with positive reports so far. May urged the public to keep all first responders in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time.
