Dresden Row Takes Key Step Toward Graded Stakes Success at Keeneland

Dresden Row, a 5-year-old multiple grade 3 winner and Canadian champion, recently made a significant stride toward fulfilling his potential under new owner/breeder Marc Gunderson. Purchased for $575,000 in January, the son of Lord Nelson won a $150,000 allowance turf race at Keeneland against strong competition, marking his first turf victory. Trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by Flavien Prat, Dresden Row demonstrated versatility and promise, with Gunderson aiming to prove him as a graded stakes-quality performer on multiple surfaces, including dirt.

Previously raced primarily on all-weather tracks in Canada, Dresden Row has a solid record and earnings of $448,803. Gunderson sees untapped potential in the horse, especially given his sire Lord Nelson’s success as a grade 1 dirt sprinter. While the chances of Dresden Row becoming a stallion prospect remain modest, Gunderson is optimistic about the colt’s future, focusing on gradual progression through graded stakes and leveraging a strong training team to maximize his racing career.
