Detective Alexa Briscoe Finds Stress Relief and Success at U.S. Dressage Finals

Alexa Briscoe, a full-time detective and collision reconstructionist in Maryland, finds solace in dressage riding, which helps her manage the emotional toll of her demanding job investigating fatal traffic crashes. Competing solo at the U.S. dressage Finals with her Hanoverian gelding Lincolntime, Briscoe impressed by winning two of three championship classes, including the Third Level Adult Amateur Freestyle. Despite training challenges, particularly with flying changes, her dedication and Lincoln’s affectionate nature contributed to their success and enjoyment of the event.

Meanwhile, junior rider Finley Peterson from Vermont captured the Third Level Junior/YR Championship with her horse Chevri’s Camelot, demonstrating growth and confidence under coach Ruth Hogan Poulsen. Peterson and close friend Ryleigh Koch, both alumni of Dressage4Kids’ training program, competed fiercely in the Fourth Level Junior Championship, finishing fourth and second respectively. Their camaraderie and mutual support highlighted the positive community spirit at the Finals, even as they faced strong competition.
