Denni Kathleen Mack: Beloved French Professor, Arabian Horse Enthusiast, and Court Reporting Pioneer Passes Away

Denni Kathleen Mack, born in 1940 in Baker County, Oregon, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. She was the only child of Herbert and Helen Mack and spent her early years moving to Washington, D.C., where her father served as Postmaster of the U.S. Senate. Denni pursued her passion for Romance languages, earning a Bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and a Master’s from the University of Oregon, eventually becoming a French professor at Agnes Scott College. A lifelong friendship with Ruth “Bazy” Tankersley introduced her to Arabian horses, leading to decades of involvement in breeding and showing, where she was celebrated for her expertise and generosity.

Denni’s life was marked by remarkable experiences, including touring with the USO and witnessing The Beatles early in their career. In 1978, she embarked on a new path as a court reporter, founding the firm Verbatim and serving actively for 48 years. Preceded in death by her parents, Denni leaves behind a large community of friends in both the legal and equestrian worlds who cherished her vibrant spirit and steady presence. Her body was cremated per her wishes, with a memorial service planned for a later date.
