Del Mar Fall Meet Features 20 Stakes Races and $3.15 Million in Purses Including Breeders’ Cup

The fall meet at Del Mar, running from October 30 to November 30, features 16 days of racing highlighted by 20 stakes races with a total purse of $3.15 million. The meet includes the Breeders’ Cup on October 31 and November 1, and a prominent turf festival from November 28 to closing day, featuring seven graded grass stakes. Key Grade 1 races include the $300,000 Hollywood Derby for 3-year-olds on November 29 and the $300,000 Matriarch Stakes for fillies and mares on November 30. Overall, there are 11 graded races, 12 turf races, and four California-bred stakes.

The meet opens with the Let It Ride Stakes on October 30, a $100,000 turf mile for 3-year-olds. Other notable races include the Grade 2 Hollywood Turf Cup (1 1/2 miles, Nov. 28), Seabiscuit Handicap (1 1/16 miles, Nov. 29), and the Grade 3 Bayakoa Stakes (1 mile, Nov. 30). Daily first post times are 3:30 p.m. EDT, except for the Breeders’ Cup days which start earlier.
