Danny Dyer, who previously claimed horse-riding skills on his acting resume despite never having ridden one, learned to ride for his role as working-class millionaire Freddie in the Disney+ series Rivals, based on Jilly Cooper’s novels. Determined not to be the only cast member not on a real horse, Dyer trained and bonded with a horse named Snaffles, proudly admitting he can now genuinely ride.

The upcoming second season of Rivals promises to amplify the elements fans loved from the first, though it will proceed without Jilly Cooper, who passed away in late 2025 after giving the show her blessing and cameoing in Season 1. Dyer fondly recalls Cooper’s playful spirit and their cheeky interactions, fitting perfectly with the series’ tone. Rivals Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on May 15.
