The Colorado State University Extension is hosting a 4-H Open House on Saturday, November 15, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds North Building. The event aims to inform local youth and families about 4-H, America’s largest youth development organization, and how to enroll for the 2026 Chaffee County Fair by the January 8 deadline. Attendees can explore various project opportunities such as rocketry, cooking, sewing, archery, livestock, gardening, and photography, with guidance from adult volunteers.
With over 125 active members across six clubs in Chaffee and Lake Counties, 4-H emphasizes hands-on learning to build leadership and problem-solving skills. Projects are showcased annually at the Chaffee County Fair and rodeo, with some advancing to the Colorado State Fair. The Open House will provide a chance to meet volunteers and professionals, and learn more about the benefits of 4-H, including funding opportunities through programs like market livestock. For more information, interested individuals can contact Rebecca Sheriff via email or phone.
