The Horses and Ponies Protection Association (HAPPA) has partnered with Cross Section Equestrian, who donated an advanced turnout rug made from a new membrane fabric to HAPPA Rose, an ex-racehorse undergoing rehabilitation. This collaboration allows Cross Section to trial the rug’s durability and comfort in real-world conditions, particularly during the harsh Lancashire winter, while supporting HAPPA’s welfare work. The partnership also includes plans to donate 20% of sales from selected Cross Section products sold through HAPPA’s retail outlet to fund ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
Cross Section’s founder, Kirsty Wilson, emphasized their commitment to designing horse-centric products based on real feedback, with HAPPA Rose serving as an ideal trial candidate. HAPPA’s CEO, Sarah Arthur, highlighted the shared values of welfare and innovation between the organizations, noting the collaboration strengthens ethical business ties with equine welfare. Beyond the rug trial, Cross Section has provided additional products for assessment, aiming to foster longer-term partnerships that enhance welfare standards across the equestrian industry.
