Cowboy State Equine: New Stallion Station Expands Breeding Opportunities in Southern Wyoming

Dave and Cindy DeLancey established Cowboy State Equine near Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 2024 to bring their stallions closer to home after two decades of breeding through out-of-state services. The facility currently houses seven stallions and offers stallion collection, training, and cooled and frozen semen shipping, with plans to expand into frozen semen storage, embryo services, and in-house veterinary care. Their goal is to support northern mare owners and strengthen Wyoming’s breeding programs, especially with the growth of Wyoming horse racing and the Wyoming Bred incentive program, which awarded over $8.5 million in 2024.

Balancing their agricultural pursuits and rodeo involvement, the DeLanceys leverage their extensive experience to help breeders produce high-quality foals and promote their stallions’ progeny in major performance horse incentive programs. Committed to quality and education, they plan to bring in interns and collaborate with local colleges to share hands-on expertise. Ultimately, they aim to grow their business thoughtfully while supporting Wyoming’s agricultural economy and helping others build successful breeding programs.
