Coshocton County Sisters Inspired by 4-H Pursue Veterinary and Military Careers

Sisters Taryn and Ashlyn Tumblin of Coshocton County credit their 13 years in 4-H with shaping their personal growth and career paths. Taryn, studying animal bioscience at Ohio State ATI, plans to become a large animal veterinarian, inspired by her experience showing horses, dairy cows, and other animals at county fairs. Ashlyn, a sociology-criminology student and Army ROTC cadet at Ohio University, aims to serve as an army officer before pursuing a career as a police K-9 officer. Both emphasize that 4-H taught them valuable life skills such as leadership, communication, adaptability, and community involvement.

The Tumblin sisters highlight 4-H as a family tradition that provided them with hands-on learning and opportunities to develop confidence and versatility. They believe 4-H fosters future leaders by offering youth practical skills and connections within their communities. Both encourage others to join 4-H for the chance to explore new career paths, build friendships, and create lasting memories.
