Coolmore Acquires Rising Sire Super Seth from Waikato Stud to Stand in Hunter Valley

Coolmore has acquired Super Seth, a rising young sire from Waikato Stud and son of Dundeel, with plans to relocate him to the Hunter Valley later this year. Super Seth has quickly established himself as a leading stallion in the Southern Hemisphere, producing multiple Group 1 winners from his first two crops, including two Guineas winners and a champion 2-year-old. Coolmore’s Tom Magnier praised the stallion’s rare trajectory and suitability for Australian mares, while acknowledging Waikato Stud and the Chittick family’s crucial role in developing Super Seth’s success.

Retired in 2020 after a notable racing career, Super Seth has made a significant impact at stud, with progeny winning prestigious races such as the Australian Guineas, Randwick Guineas, and Queensland Derby. His acquisition by Coolmore places him alongside other top sires for the upcoming season, and Waikato Stud will retain shares and continue supporting him. The move highlights a major achievement for New Zealand breeding, with Super Seth’s yearlings fetching high prices at auction, underscoring his growing influence in the industry.
