This Easter weekend, the ARCH Andalusian Rescue Centre for Horses in Alhaurin el Grande is offering special Good Friday opening hours from 10am to 2pm, in addition to its regular first Sunday open morning. Visitors, including holidaymakers and locals, can meet the sanctuary’s beloved residents such as Luz de Luna, the youngest horse, Torero, the oldest, and Lola the friendly donkey. The centre provides a safe haven for many rescued equines, relying on public support and donations to cover essential care costs like feed, bedding, and veterinary treatment.
ARCH operates as a volunteer-led charity dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming neglected horses, ponies, and donkeys in the Malaga region. The centre collaborates closely with local authorities and animal protection agencies to address equine welfare issues. Visitors are encouraged to support the cause through donations, volunteering, fostering, or adopting, and can learn more during the open days. This event offers a unique opportunity to connect with rescued animals while contributing to improved animal welfare in the Costa del Sol community.
