The Iron Horse Regional Trail, an 18-mile multi-use corridor between Concord and Pleasanton, has transformed from an abandoned railroad right-of-way into a popular trail for biking, walking, running, and horseback riding. The trail connects various residential, commercial, and recreational areas, serving as a vital community link. In response to residents’ requests for landscaping along the trail, Contra Costa County established the Iron Horse Corridor Management Program, which permits landscaping under specific guidelines.
Currently, there is an open seat for a Concord resident to join the Iron Horse Corridor Management Program Advisory Committee, which includes representatives from all jurisdictions and communities along the trail corridor. Interested applicants must apply by 5 p.m. on November 14 to help guide the future development and maintenance of this valued regional asset.
