Cockshot Dressage Summer League Crowns Champions in Friendly, Growing Competition

The Cockshot dressage and Livery, a family-run business recently taken over by owner Vicky Byrne in March 2023, hosted a successful summer league and championship for riders not affiliated with British dressage. The league, organized alongside Byrne’s lifelong friend Joy Mahoney, has grown significantly, attracting over 50 competitors on competition days compared to just 15 initially. The event aims to create a welcoming and encouraging environment for riders of all levels, supported by local businesses donating prizes, and culminates in a prize-giving ceremony and championship show.

The summer champions included Amber Blackmore, Joanne Wallace, Cerys Butterfield, Adele Forster, Phoebe Wood, and Grace McDonald, each excelling in different dressage categories. The Cockshot team emphasizes making dressage accessible and enjoyable, recognizing the challenges of horse ownership and competition. Building on this success, a winter league and championship are planned, with further details available on the Cockshot dressage Facebook page.
