The Clonmel Horse Show and Agricultural Society recently celebrated its centenary with the event held on 12 and 13 July, marking 100 years as a key fixture in the local calendar. The show featured showjumping competitions, agricultural exhibitions, Foxhound displays, and a careers event organized by Clonmel Junior Chamber, drawing significant community interest.
Despite challenges posed by high inflation and rising costs, Clonmel Horse Show chairman Sydney Watson remains optimistic about the event’s future. He emphasizes the importance of local financial support, sponsorship, and engaging younger generations to sustain the show. While smaller regional shows face increasing financial pressures, Watson believes Clonmel maintains a good balance, positioned between larger events like Ballsbridge and country gymkhanas.
