The City of Kissimmee Fire Department has introduced Heavy Rescue 1, a specialized 37-foot, 54,000-pound fire truck designed to enhance response capabilities for complex emergencies such as vehicle entrapments, confined-space rescues, and high-angle operations. Staffed by firefighters and paramedics with Advanced Life Support skills, the vehicle carries specialized rescue tools and allows immediate critical patient care on scene, improving emergency response efficiency without relying on external assistance.
Fire Chief Jim Walls emphasized that Heavy Rescue 1 strengthens the department’s ability to act swiftly and provide vital care, enhancing safety for residents, businesses, and visitors. The truck’s arrival was marked by a traditional Push-Back Ceremony, symbolizing the department’s ongoing commitment to preparedness and service. With this new asset fully operational, Kissimmee’s Fire Department expands its capacity to protect life and property across the city.
