Circle H Haven, a family-run nonprofit in Midland, Texas, has rapidly become the only horse and donkey rescue in West Texas since opening six months ago. Founded by Nichol Hollingsworth after realizing no local rescue existed, the haven now cares for over 60 animals, many saved from the Panhandle feedlot system where they faced slaughter in Mexico. The rescue provides a second chance for neglected, abandoned, and sick animals, including horses, donkeys, goats, and other livestock, often nursing them back to health and giving them new purpose.
Operating largely through family effort, with Hollingsworth’s husband working multiple jobs and her daughter assisting daily, Circle H Haven urgently needs more veterinary support to handle the serious medical needs of incoming animals. The rescue offers 24/7 resources for those who find neglected or abandoned livestock and encourages community involvement through donations, volunteering, and adoptions to sustain and expand their life-saving work.
