Circle H Haven, a family-run nonprofit in Midland, Texas, has rapidly become the only horse and donkey rescue in West Texas since opening six months ago. Founded by Nichol Hollingsworth after realizing no local rescue existed, the haven now cares for over 60 animals, many rescued from the Panhandle feedlot system where they faced slaughter or severe neglect. The rescue provides a sanctuary for animals with heartbreaking stories, including starved horses, orphaned foals, and disabled animals, offering them rehabilitation and a second chance at life.
Operating as a family effort, with Hollingsworth’s daughter and husband deeply involved, Circle H Haven faces ongoing challenges, particularly a critical need for consistent veterinary support to address the serious medical needs of incoming animals. The rescue welcomes animals from various regions and offers 24/7 assistance for neglected or abandoned livestock. To sustain and expand their mission, they encourage donations, volunteering, and partnerships with veterinarians, emphasizing their commitment to being a lifeline for animals that “slip through the cracks.”
