Cindy Busby, known for her roles in “When Hope Calls: Brookfield” and “Heartland,” is a passionate advocate for animal adoption, crediting her rescue dog Suzie as one of the most fulfilling parts of her life. Since adopting Suzie from MaeDay Rescue nearly five years ago, Busby has been dedicated to encouraging others to adopt shelter animals, emphasizing the profound impact rescue pets can have on their owners’ lives.
Busby also fondly recalls her experiences working with animal co-stars, particularly on “Heartland,” where she worked with a prestigious $250,000 jumping horse that required special care and privacy. She contrasts this with the joyful chaos of filming the Hallmark movie “Unleashing Mr. Darcy,” where she was surrounded by 10 King Charles Cavaliers, describing the experience as blissful and a natural high from the dogs’ affectionate company.
