Chinese performers from the Rugao Puppet Art Troupe staged a captivating puppet show titled “The Charm of the Oriental Puppet” in Vina del Mar, Chile, celebrating the upcoming Chinese Year of the Horse. The performance, featuring music, movement, and visual storytelling, showcased classic Chinese opera scenes and humorous, poetic pieces, impressing the audience with its high artistic quality. The event drew a full house, reflecting strong local interest in Chinese culture, and included a promotional video for China Media Group’s 2026 Spring Festival Gala, highlighting the fusion of traditional and modern Chinese culture.
The show not only entertained but also served as a cultural bridge, making Chinese traditions more accessible to Chileans. Audience members and local theater officials expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for the rich and splendid performances. Roberto Lafontaine, director of the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Office of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation Foundation, emphasized how the event helped foster cultural exchange and understanding between China and Chile.
