Chinese Cultural Center Launches “Make Your Own Luck” Art Zone and Justin Wong’s “Carry-On” Exhibition for 2026 Lunar New Year

The Chinese Cultural Center of San Francisco is launching an “Art Zone” on the 600 block of Grant Avenue to celebrate the 2026 Lunar New Year and the Year of the Fire Horse. The event, titled “Make Your Own Luck,” will take place on February 14-15 and feature interactive art stations, a small press marketplace, dance-alongs, and community booths, in collaboration with local organizations. Concurrently, the Center will debut “Carry-On,” the first U.S. exhibition by Hong Kong-born artist Justin Wong, whose work explores themes of exile, memory, and resistance through digital illustrations, outdoor pieces, and handmade books, reflecting his personal and political experiences after relocating to London.

Founded in 1965 during the civil rights movement, the Chinese Culture Center has long served as a cultural and social justice hub for Chinatown, addressing issues of racism, displacement, and gentrification through the arts. Wong’s exhibition, running from February 14 to June 29, 2026, marks the inaugural show in the Center’s new gallery space at 667 Grant Avenue, continuing the Center’s mission to uplift immigrant narratives and foster community resilience through innovative artistic expression.
