Chhattisgarh Tableau Honors Tribal Freedom Fighters and Showcases India’s Modernized Criminal Justice System

The Chhattisgarh tableau, titled “The Mantra of Freedom – Vande Mataram,” honors the bravery and sacrifices of tribal freedom fighters, prominently featuring Veer Gundadhur, leader of the 1910 Bhumkal Rebellion, and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, Chhattisgarh’s first martyr from the 1857 First War of Independence. The tableau highlights symbols of tribal unity and resistance, with the legacy preserved at India’s first digital museum dedicated to tribal heroes, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the state’s Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Separately, the Ministry of Home Affairs tableau showcases the historic enactment of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, which modernize India’s criminal justice system by replacing colonial-era laws. Featuring new law books atop the New Parliament Building and scenes of forensic investigation and police professionalism, the tableau emphasizes a citizen-centric, accessible, and accountable justice system grounded in constitutional values and democratic principles.
