Chestnut Filly by Curlin Sets $975,000 OBS June Sale Record at Ocala Breeders Sales

At the Ocala Breeders Sales Company (OBS) June sale, a chestnut filly by Curlin set a new record by selling for $975,000. Purchased by Gus King, the filly is out of the Tapit mare Mufajaah, a Grade 3 winner, and was previously bought for $200,000 at the Fasig-Tipton October yearling sale. This sale surpassed the previous OBS June record of $900,000 set in 2017. The overall sale saw significant increases, with 259 horses sold for a total of $15.29 million, marking a 109.7% increase in gross sales and a 66% rise in average price compared to the previous year.

Other notable sales included a Gun Runner filly purchased by MyRacehorse for $525,000 and a Bolt d’Oro colt bought by bloodstock agent Gary Young for $425,000. Leading consignors were de Meric Sales, Wavertree Stables, and Omar Ramirez, while Gus King was the top buyer. The next major event on the OBS calendar is the October Yearling Sale scheduled for October 7-8.
