Cheff Therapeutic Riding Center, established in 1969 in Augusta, Michigan, is a pioneering nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with special needs through equine-assisted therapies and activities. Accredited by PATH International, Cheff offers physical therapy, horseback riding, and unmounted programs for people facing a wide range of physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral challenges, including veterans, seniors, and at-risk populations. Serving over 600 clients annually with the help of more than 190 volunteers, Cheff also provides education and training for therapeutic riding professionals and collaborates with local colleges to offer learning opportunities.
The center’s impact is reflected in powerful testimonials from families who have witnessed significant physical, emotional, and developmental progress in their loved ones through Cheff’s programs. To expand its services, Cheff is currently raising $2.6 million for a new indoor arena designed to enhance therapy outcomes by providing a private, distraction-free environment. Community support through volunteering, donations, and spreading awareness is vital to sustaining and growing Cheff’s mission of healing and empowerment through horses.
