The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County’s 4-H Program is showcasing the achievements of its members at the Chautauqua County Fair. Starting July 8, youth participants presented projects in 25 diverse areas such as Gardening, Photography, Sewing, and Food Preservation, with judges providing feedback and selecting top projects for advancement to the New York State Fair. These projects, except perishable foods, are displayed in the 4-H Exhibit Building, which is open daily and decorated by individual 4-H clubs following the fair’s theme, “Once Upon a Fair-ie Tail.”
Throughout the fair week, 4-H members also participate in animal shows held at multiple venues including the Main Show arena, Small Animal Show arena, Rabbit and Poultry Barn, and Horse Show arena. The event culminates with the 4-H Meat Animal Sale on Friday at noon, where community members can purchase animals, with information available at the Extension Office. The full schedule and additional details are accessible via the 4-H Facebook page and the Chautauqua County Fair website.
