The RSPCA campaign manager, Carrie Stones, is advocating for stricter regulations on fireworks, including limiting sales to licensed venues, restricting the days fireworks can be used, and reducing noise levels with clear packaging warnings about the distress fireworks cause to animals. These measures aim to minimize the negative impact of fireworks on both domestic and wild animals.
Supporting this initiative, BANES council has promoted advice to reduce noise and debris from firework displays, encouraging consideration for animals during events. Animal welfare professionals, like Jodie Hayward from Bristol Animal Rescue Centre, highlight the severe and lasting trauma fireworks can inflict on pets, who often exhibit fear and anxiety during firework events.
