Celebrating Success: New York State 4-H Horse Bowl Competition Results and Nationals Qualifiers

The New York State 4-H Horse Program recently hosted its annual State Horse Bowl Contest at Cornell University, where nearly 100 youth from across the state competed in a buzzer-based quiz competition showcasing their horse knowledge. The event, part of the NYS 4-H Equine Program, provides an opportunity for youth to deepen their understanding of horses, meet peers from across the state, and build skills in teamwork, communication, and critical thinking. The top four senior individuals have earned spots to represent New York State at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Round-Up in Louisville, KY this November.

The Horse Bowl competition covers topics ranging from general equine knowledge to more technical subjects such as anatomy, nutrition, and industry practices. Participants compete in teams or as individuals, answering questions using a buzzer system in a fast-paced, Jeopardy-style format. The event helps youth develop a deeper understanding of equine science and care, while also building teamwork and communication skills to prepare top participants for the national competition in Louisville, KY.

The success of the State Horse Bowl Contest would not be possible without the support of volunteers, coaches, officials, and educators who dedicate their time and energy to make the event happen. The NYS 4-H Equine Program extends its gratitude to all those involved in making the competition a success and congratulates the youth who competed for their sportsmanship, preparation, and passion.
