During LGBTQ+ Adoption and Fostering Week 2025, Adoption Focus will be celebrating stories from their LGBTQ+ adopters through blog posts and podcasts. They will also host an online information event for those interested in learning more about adoption. LGBTQ+ Adoption and Fostering Week is organized by New Family Social, a charity supporting LGBTQ+ adopters, foster carers, and special guardians, with one in five adoptions in England in 2024 being to same-gender couples.
With the number of looked after children increasing, more adopters are urgently needed, as highlighted by the campaign’s tagline “Change lives in ’25”. Adoption Focus, led by CEO Anna Sharkey, has a long history of working with LGBTQ+ individuals to provide loving homes for children in need. The agency welcomes individuals from all backgrounds who are considering adoption, whether in a relationship or single, with or without children already.
Throughout LGBTQ+ Adoption and Fostering Week, Adoption Focus, New Family Social, and other participating agencies will be hosting various activities and events. Those interested in learning more about adoption can contact Adoption Focus at any time through their website, adoption-focus.org.uk, to discuss the benefits of adoption for both children and parents.
