Celebrate Wild Horses: Upcoming Events in Colorado for Mustang Enthusiasts

The Colorado Mustang West event, taking place at the Mesa County Fairgrounds later this month, aims to celebrate wild horses while providing opportunities for adoption. Scheduled for June 28, the event will feature an auction of wild horses primarily from the Little Book Cliffs Wild Horse Range, along with training demonstrations, the EQUUS International Film Festival, and a Mustang Summit & Symposium focused on advocacy and horse care. Attendees can also enjoy an Art of the Mustang Fair, which includes a juried art show, vendors, and youth activities, with many events being free or requiring a nominal fee for specific activities.

Additionally, the annual Meeker Mustang Makeover will occur on August 22-23 at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds, where 32 trainers will prepare wild horses for adoption after a 120-day training period. A horse training clinic led by esteemed trainers Bryan Neubert and Steve Mantle will precede the event on June 14-15, allowing the public to audit for a fee. Both events aim to promote awareness and appreciation for wild horses while facilitating their adoption into new homes.
