The Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame in Goshen is hosting a free community event on Saturday, February 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to celebrate 4-H and educate visitors about horses. The day features 20 interactive activities including educational demonstrations, crafts, a scavenger hunt, and a harness racing simulator ride. Notable guests include Walter Varco, who will discuss the Museum’s articulated skeleton, artist June Evers offering drawing lessons and book signings, and Shane Darish presenting on shoeing and training Standardbreds. Young participants can earn tickets through activities to win prizes and enter a raffle.
The event is supported by the Agriculture & New York State Horse Development Fund and welcomes people of all ages. Additional demonstrations by 4-H members will cover topics such as hobby horsing, retraining Standardbreds, horse parasites, and training a blind pony. Light refreshments will be provided.
