American Olympian Caroline Pamukcu secured a commanding victory at the CCI4-S event at Maryland International, riding her 10-year-old AES mare, She’s The One (“Gemma”), to a final score of 45.2. Leading from the dressage phase with a score of 29.6 despite a shortened warm-up, Pamukcu maintained her lead through a challenging cross-country course designed by Andrew Heffernan, which saw no riders finish inside the optimum time due to hot weather conditions. She finished strong with a clear show jumping round, adding only 1.2 time penalties, to clinch her first 4 career win alongside Gemma, her partner for over two years.
Pamukcu, who has been training intensively with coaches Samantha St. Jacques and Anne Kursinski, expressed satisfaction with her performance and the course conditions at Loch Moy Farm. With this win, she is now focusing on the upcoming CHIO Aachen event, where she will compete her Paris 2024 Olympic mount, HSH Blake. Balancing motherhood and a busy competition schedule, Pamukcu aims to build momentum and continue her success at the highest levels of eventing.
