Cambridge Stud Leads National Yearling Sale with $10.64 Million in Record-Breaking Book 1 Triumph

Sir Brendan and Lady Jo Lindsay made a significant commitment to New Zealand’s National Yearling Sale by offering 100 percent of Cambridge Stud’s yearlings, resulting in a standout performance at the milestone 100th edition. Over two days at Karaka, Cambridge Stud sold 50 of 54 yearlings for a total of $10.64 million, averaging $212,800, and secured the leading vendor title by a $4.74 million margin over Waikato Stud. The highlight was the $1.1 million sale of Lot 513, a colt by Sword Of State, underscoring the potential of New Zealand breeding and the success of the Lindsay team and their dedicated staff.

The sale also featured several other high-priced yearlings, with Australian buyers playing a crucial role, accounting for 35 percent of total purchases and over $39 million in aggregate sales. Sir Brendan emphasized the importance of international support and the broader benefits to New Zealand’s breeding industry, celebrating the milestone event and honoring the legacy of previous owners Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan. The success reflects both the quality of Cambridge Stud’s stock and the strength of New Zealand’s thoroughbred breeding sector.
