Buetane, a $1.15 million colt by Tiz the Law trained by Bob Baffert, will not compete in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream due to a canceled flight to Florida. Although cross-entered in the Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn, his participation there also depends on flight availability. Buetane recently finished second in the San Vicente Stakes at Santa Anita and is also nominated for the Robert B. Lewis Stakes at Santa Anita, along with other Baffert trainees.
With Buetane out, the Holy Bull field is expected to include seven horses, led by Riley Mott-trained Incredibolt, the 2025 Street Sense winner, Gulfstream allowance winner Nearly, and Churchill Downs maiden winner Cannoneer. Additionally, Game For It, trained by Chad Summers, is likely to skip the Holy Bull in favor of the Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. The Holy Bull is the first of three Kentucky Derby points races at Gulfstream this winter, awarding points to the top five finishers.
