Buckham Fair, a popular vintage event in Beaminster organized by Martin Clunes, his wife Philippa, and a committee, will return on August 2, 2026. After a break since 2019 to allow the land and community to recover, the fair will raise funds for the Dorset County Hospital Emergency and Critical Care Appeal. Highlights include a Festival of the Heavy Horse featuring Shires, Clydesdales, Suffolks, and Belgians, with Martin Clunes’ own young Clydesdale, Patrick, expected to be a crowd favorite. The event also features a dog show judged by Neil Morrissey, including a unique “dog most like Neil Morrissey” category, with entries and payments made on the day.
The fair offers a full day of entertainment with arena displays such as the Golden Retriever Display team, obedience demonstrations by “One Man and his Gun Dogs,” heavy horse rides, and ladies driven carts. Visitors can enjoy trot pasts and walk-throughs with horses and dogs, along with expert talks in the Dog Village and Heavy Horse World. Tickets are priced at £20 in advance and £25 on the day, with free parking available. More details can be found on the official Buckham Fair website.
