Briga Fliedner, a lifelong horse racing enthusiast from country Victoria, has made significant contributions to the thoroughbred racing industry as an owner, trainer, administrator, mentor, and advocate. Growing up in a large racing family, she became the first female to win the Mildura trainer’s premiership in 1996 and has since played key leadership roles, including serving on the boards of Country Racing Victoria and the Bendigo Jockey Club. Her dedication to supporting country racing clubs, volunteers, and emerging talent has earned her widespread respect and culminated in receiving the prestigious Lady of Racing Award from the Wakeful Club of Victoria in 2024.
Fliedner’s impact extends beyond her formal roles, with over three decades building Fliedner’s Racing into a leading regional training hub alongside her husband Shane. Known for her tireless commitment, she attends around 100 industry meetings annually and actively promotes the growth and sustainability of country racing.
