The Breeders’ Cup will return to Belmont Park in 2027, marking its first appearance there since 2005. This announcement, made by Breeders’ Cup CEO Drew Fleming, follows a commitment he made two years ago, inspired by the phrase “If you build it, they will come.” The event is set for October 29-30, 2027, and will coincide with the completion of Belmont Park’s $455 million renovation, which is expected to enhance the venue significantly.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul and NYRA officials praised the redevelopment efforts, emphasizing the importance of a modern Belmont Park in attracting major events like the Breeders’ Cup. The new facility aims to create a world-class racing experience, appealing to both traditional fans and a new generation. Fleming highlighted the significance of hosting the Breeders’ Cup in New York, stating it aligns with the industry’s goal of promoting horse racing.
In addition to Belmont Park’s return, the 2026 Breeders’ Cup will take place at Keeneland, which has successfully hosted the event multiple times since joining the rotation in 2015. The Breeders’ Cup’s venue rotation, including future events at Churchill Downs, aims to balance the East-West representation in horse racing, showcasing the investment and development across various tracks in the U.S.
