At the Defender Bramham Horse Trials, one horse, Ventura Rock, was withdrawn by rider Austin O’Connor after being sent to the holding box during the first trot-up. Two other horses, Sceilig Concordio and Jeweetwel, were also held but successfully passed the second inspection. Notably, Stonehavens Baby Blue, ridden by Frida Andersen, slipped but was unharmed and passed the inspection.
Fifty-three horses will compete in the dressage phase of the CCI4*-L class, which begins tomorrow. British riders showcased a festival theme in their attire, with Tom Crisp and Daisy Berkeley winning best-dressed prizes. The turnout prize went to Tom Jackson’s United 36, highlighting the festive atmosphere at the event.
This year marks a significant change as the British national under-25 championship is now included within the CCI4*-S class, and a new cross-country course designer, Andrew Heffernan, will take over for the 2025 event following Ian Stark’s retirement.
