Bolt Ghana Enhances Rider Safety with Training Ahead of Okada Bill Implementation

Bolt Ghana has launched a targeted safety training initiative for its top motorbike riders in Accra in anticipation of new legislation regulating commercial motorcycle transport, known as the okada bill. The session focused on enhancing regulatory awareness, defensive riding, compliance with traffic laws, and the use of platform safety features like emergency SOS tools. This effort aims to address rising concerns over reckless riding and accidents by promoting responsible behavior and positioning Bolt riders as compliant operators within Ghana’s evolving two-wheel transport sector.

Senior General Manager Teddy Appa Dankyi emphasized that this training is part of an ongoing strategy to embed safety and compliance as the motorbike ride-hailing market grows. Riders pledged to uphold safety standards and received protective gear, while Bolt committed to continuous education, monitoring, and collaboration with regulators. The initiative reflects the company’s proactive approach to integrating motorcycle ride-hailing safely into Ghana’s urban transport system amid increasing public scrutiny and regulatory changes.
