Work is underway to install new horse stalls at the Blue Mountain Equine Center in Pendleton, with plans to have them ready for the Central Washington Quarter Horse Association event on March 28. According to Pat Beard, the center’s manager, these stalls will create a new revenue stream and enable the facility to host a wider variety of events, including national qualifiers for ranch sorting and mounted shooting, which require boarding facilities for multi-day competitions.
The center will offer 145 stalls for rent at $40 per day, potentially generating up to $5,800 per night, a significant increase compared to the current maximum daily rental income of $1,000 for the entire facility. The stalls will also be available for competitors at the Pendleton Round-Up. Although the total project cost is unclear, the stalls were purchased from Top Notch Feed and Fence Supply in Payette, Idaho, with the bid managed through Blue Mountain Community College.
