As the Chinese New Year ushers in the Year of the Horse, the Blue Cross charity is seeking new homes for several of its equine residents across its rehoming centers in Oxfordshire and Staffordshire. Among them is five-year-old Thoroughbred Nala, who thrives on routine and positive human interaction and is suited to a non-ridden companion role. One-year-old filly Katie, despite a conformation defect, is expected to enjoy an active life as a hacking or leisure horse with patient and experienced care. Both horses require homes that offer patience, consistency, and compassion.
At the Rolleston center, older horses Autumn (21), Peanut (3), and Fred (26) are also looking for non-ridden companion homes. Autumn seeks a retirement home with horsey friends, Peanut, a playful young cob, would benefit from in-hand exercises to build strength, and spirited Fred is a social “babysitter” for younger ponies who needs equine company. The charity encourages those able to provide safe, knowledgeable, and loving environments to inquire, aiming to start the Year of the Horse with these animals happily rehomed.
