BLM Wyoming Announces Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Events for September and October

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wyoming is hosting several wild horse and burro adoption events in September and October, offering untrained animals to qualified adopters for a minimum fee of $125. While some events, like the Wind River Wild Horse Ranch Day on September 6 and the Wyoming Honor Farm event on September 12, are for tours and viewing only, adoption opportunities will be available at the Deerwood Ranch event on September 27 and the Wheatland Off Range Corral event on October 18. The October event includes a live competitive auction starting at 9 a.m., with remaining animals available on a first-come, first-served basis.

These wild horses and burros have been removed from overpopulated herds on Western public rangelands to help manage the population. Interested individuals can find more details about the events on the BLM website or by contacting the national information center. Updates and additional information are also available through BLM Wyoming’s social media channels on Facebook and X.
