BLM to Host Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Event in Livingston, Texas, February 27-28

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will host a two-day wild horse and burro adoption event in Livingston, Texas, on February 27-28 at the Barney Wiggins Memorial arena. The event will feature 150 wild horses and burros, including adults and yearlings that were once free-roaming on public lands. Adoptions will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on February 27 and from 8 a.m. to noon on February 28, with BLM staff available onsite to assist with applications and provide information.

The BLM regularly removes excess animals from public ranges to maintain healthy herds and protect rangeland resources, placing over 280,000 animals in approved homes since 1973. Prospective adopters must be at least 18 years old, have no history of animal abuse, and meet specific corral and trailer requirements to qualify. The event will take place at 100 Fair St., Livingston, Texas, with further details available by phone or on the BLM website.
