BLM to Hold Wild Horse Adoption Event June 25-27 in Hines

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will host a wild horse adoption event from June 25-27, 2025, at the Oregon Wild Horse Corral Facility in Hines. The event will offer 10 yearlings from the South Steens Herd Management Area and 15 geldings, all five years or younger, from the Murderer’s Creek Wild Horse Territory. This is the first opportunity for the public to adopt these horses since their gathering in 2024. Registration and viewing are scheduled for June 25, with adoptions beginning June 26 on a first-come, first-served basis for approved adopters.

Potential adopters can apply in advance online or via email before June 25. South Steens horses are noted for their distinctive coloring and strong conformation, while Murderer’s Creek horses are typically bay, black, or brown with a smaller saddle-horse build. The adoption fee is $125. This event provides a chance for individuals to give a home to wild horses managed by the BLM.
