The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and American Wild Horse Conservation are offering a combined $7,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for killing a foal from the Montgomery Pass Wild Horse Herd in Mono County, California. The foal was found dead on BLM-managed land east of Mono Lake, with a necropsy confirming death by gunshot wound. The incident was reported on June 6, 2025.

BLM law enforcement, alongside local agencies including the Mono and Inyo County Sheriff’s Offices, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Bishop Veterinary Hospital, conducted the investigation.
