BLM Boise District Office to Host Wild Horse Adoption Event with Incentives for Adopters

The BLM Boise District Office will host a wild horse adoption event on December 13-14 at the Boise Wild Horse Off-Range Corral, with approximately 70 wild horses available for adoption. The adoption will be on a first come, first served basis from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The Wild Horse and Burro Adoption Incentive Program offers up to $1,000 to adopt an untrained animal, with the goal of finding every wild horse and burro a good home. This program has been successful in managing healthy herds of wild horses and burros on public rangelands for the past five years, saving taxpayers money and promoting the long-term health of the animals and their habitats.

Since 1971, around 300,000 wild horses and burros have been adopted into loving homes across the country. These animals are known for their adaptability, strength, intelligence, and endurance. To adopt, applicants must be at least 18 years old with no record of animal abuse, have adequate corral space, and meet specific height requirements for fencing. Contact the BLM Boise District Office for more information on the adoption program.
